Promotional Merit Points

Promotional Merit Points are used in the Seventh Fleet rank system.  The items listed here are a basic list to be used as a guideline while filling out your duty report.  Not all possibilities are listed.  If you feel an item that you have purchased/participated/etc.  may be worth points, feel free to list it down on your duty report. In order to obtain credit for these items, they must be reported on your Monthly Duty Report.  UPDATED: 6-21-2014

 

PARTICIPATION- (Attendance of activities, purchasing Star Trek paraphernalia and having fun)

Attend an AWAY TEAM-               3 Merits

Participate in PERSONAL Science Fiction Activities (Must make a report on it)-     2 Merits

Attend OTHER fan club on your own. (Must have report on it)-  3 Merits

Participate in a STAR TREK GAMING EVENT-        3 Merits

Participate in a STAR TREK GAMING COMPETITION (Must have report on it)-      Up to 10 Merits

Attend AREA STAR TREK CONVENTION- 5 Merits per day

Attend OUT-OF-STATE STAR TREK CONVENTION-             30 Merits

Acquire first STARFLEET UNIFORM-         25 Merits

Wear UNIFORM in Public or at Activities (name badges, t-shirts, jewelry do not qualify as a uniform.)-    Up to 3 Merits

Purchase your own STAR TREK MERCHANDISE and COLLECTIBLES (non-sourcebooks)-    3 Merits

Complete & Pass a participation based Merit Sheet COURSE-      3 Merits

Submit a BOOK REPORT on a STAR TREK BOOK-  Up to 20 Merits

TRIVIA COMPETITION (against EQUAL RANK or less)-      Up to 5 Merits

TRIVIA COMPETITION (against a HIGHER RANK)-               Up to 10 Merits

TRIVIA COMPETITION at a CONVENTION-             Up to 15 Merits

MEMORIZATION of a Category- Up to 5 Merits

MEMORIZE one complete season’s EPISODE TITLES, in order-     10 Merits

VIEW STAR TREK EPISODES-        Up to 5 Merits

CREATE A WORD PUZZLE or GAME (Use 50 terms)-          Up to 5 Merits

PURCHASE STAR TREK ENCYCLOPEDIA or CONCORDANCE or SOURCEBOOK-        5-10 Merit(s)

School GRADE POINT AVERAGE per quarter/semester/trimester (for secondary school, votech, university, or college) 3.0-       1 merit per period

School GRADE POINT AVERAGE per quarter/semester/trimester (for secondary school, votech, university, or college) 3.5-       3 merits per period

School GRADE POINT AVERAGE per quarter/semester/trimester (for secondary school, votech, university, or college) 4.0-       5 merits per period

EARN DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE: High School Diploma-          10 merits

EARN DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE: VoTech or Associates Degree-        12 merits

EARN DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE: Bachelor of Science/Arts- 15 merits

EARN DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE: Master of Science/Arts-    20 merits

EARN DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE: Doctor of Philosophy-         25 merits

EARN DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE: Medical Doctor/Vet/Dentist etc-   25 merits

Military Training (dependent on intensity of training and program learned)-        10-25 merits

CONTINUED EDUCATION COURSES CPR, First Aid, Swimming, Reading, Hunter Safety, Life guarding, Cooking, Sewing etc. (dependent on course length and intensity)-             2-10 merits

Non SF BOOK REPORTS/RESEARCH PAPERS (original work only, must be pre-approved)-                2-10 merits

Write an original TREK FANFIC (Minimum 5,000 words)- 5-20 merits

Write an original (Non-Trek) NOVEL or STORY (Minimum 5,000 words)-  5-20 merits

BOY SCOUT/GIRL SCOUT/YOUTH GROUP/MILITARY/WORK ADVANCEMENT Improvement in rank, badges, promotion, etc. Must be approved by command staff-  Up to 5 merits

WORK CONSISTENCY Maintaining a steady job builds experience, a good resume, and can improve work ethics-                1 Merit for each year on the job

START new JOB-               2 Merits

ATTEND and COMPLETED Star Trek training at convention courses (Starfest Academy, etc.)          10 Merits

SERVICE- (Helping our community, ship and fellow crewmembers in the Star Trek spirit)

REPORT PROGRESS OF DEPARTMENT TO THE CAPTAIN preferably written but can be oral or part of newsletter.-                Up to 3 merits per month

ORGANIZE and COORDINATE volunteer work-   Up to 10 merits

Complete & Pass a leadership based Merit Sheet COURSE-    5 Merits

DEMERITS- (When needed. These demerits are subtracted from any previously earned Promotional Merit Points)
