Captain Henline Update:

Richard Henline had quadruple bypass surgery Friday without complications, however the original plan was for only triple bypass. During the procedure surgeons discovered the need for a 5th bypass but determined the need was not immediate and might be correctable non-surgically. Captain Henline is schedued to be moved from ICU today and remain at least until Friday in the hospital. His long term prognosis is a 6-week basic recovery, but at least 3 months until he is able to resume his club duties.

Admiral Hollinger had assumed emergency command of the Kelly, but now that the "crisis" is past he will be transitioning command to David Thalmann. The delay is due to Dave's need to have better communications in place. In the mean time feel free to contact Acting XO George Bogler at soo@usskelly.com or 658-6154 (H) 755-4100 (C) for immediate matters. Dave can be sent messages at ActingCaptain@usskelly.com but there might be delay in replying.

Exit 6200 S from I-215 (east side) and go south on 2000 E/Highland Dr. to 7200 S (NOT Ft Union Blvd or take Ft Union to 2000 E). Turn west (U Of U Credit Union on the corner) and look for the park on the left. It is next to a school so we have plenty of room!

Bring a picnic lunch for your family and dessert to share. The Kelly will provide lemonade, plates, cups, and silverware.

Bring a kite or a rocket. If you have a rocket launcher please bring it. Optional suggestions: picnic blanket, camp/lawn chairs, sunscreen.

Star Trek Remastered is finished. CBS digital has spent 2 years on the project. The final episode produced was The Cage. Several episodes have not yet aired. Season 1in DVD & HD is available in stores. Season 2 will be released on DVD August 5. No info has been announced regarding blu ray releases or season 3.

Mountain Con has announced it's line up of major tv/film guests for MCIV this September. Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys & Dylan Hunt, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda) was announced Friday.

There are no Kelly or Star Trek birthdays this week.

The geology mission to Topaz Mountain is on. It will be this coming Saturday, April 19. Meet at the LDS church at apx 8700 S Monroe in Midvale (near the Admiral's quarters). ready to leave at 6AM. PLEASE RSVP by 10pm Thursday to soo@usskelly.com or 685-6154.

The trip will take about 2.5 hours to the site, and the group will spend the entire day collecting specimins. You will NOT get back until late. The expedition will cover some rough terrain. You should wear sturdy shoes or boots, bring food and water, and use sunscreen. Bring your own collecting bag or box. Please contribute your share of fuel costs (this is a club membership requirement).

Join us this Saturday for Star Trek viewing and our monthly Club Planning Meeting. Viewing begins at 6pm and the meeting is at 7:30. Bring munchies to share.

Mountain Con has raised the necessary funds to participate in the "Bowling For Kid's Sake" event sponsored by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Utah. Kelly members Jill Bogler, Dave Thalmann, and Aretha Nesmith (Horman) will be on the team. Supporters are requested as well. The bowling time for the Mountain Con team is stil pending but the event is this coming Saturday April 12 at Fat Catz--2261 Kiesel Avenue in Ogden. As soon as a time is assigned an announcement will be made. Supporters/cheerleaders are enourgaged to be in uniform/costume.

In addition to supporting the charity, the team is hoping to get noticed by bowling in costume and gain some publicitiy for Mountain Con.

All holodecks will be running easter egg hunts throughout the day today to accomodate different duty shifts. REMINDER--all items "dicscoverd" during the hunts are holo matter and cannot be removed from within the grid. If you wish your children to find real eggs, candy, etc you will need to provide them. Our March club activity is this coming Saturday. We will be going bowling. Time and place are still being developed, but we are looking at apx 2pm. Watch here and your inboxes for details.

Due to league tournaments occupying most area bowling establishments we have been forced to change our activity for this coming Saturday March 15.

We will meet at the Hollywood Connection/Ritz theaters (across from the E-Center) at 2pm. Hollywood connection features rollerskating, laser tag, mini golf, arcade games, and indoor amusement rides. A free magic show takes place a 2, 3, and 4 pm.

It costs approximately $5 for skating, mini golf, or laser tag, and individual rides cost approximately $3 to $5. A wristband pass is available for unlimited activities. There is also the movie theater. An old fashioned diner and an ice cream parlor are on premises.

Our April activity will be the Fantasy Festival Saturday April 26 at the U of U Union Ballroom. We will be running a green screen photo opportunity (similar to what we did for the Harry Potter book release a few months ago). Details TBA.

The Mountain Con pre-registration rate of $25 has been extended through Monday. All purchases must be completed on-line today or tomorrow or mail-in registrations must be postmarked no later than Monday to get the rate. Beginning Tuesday the advance rate is $35 for adults and $17.50 for kids 3-17.
